Having my tachometer adjusted I am right where my RPMs need to be with an aluminum 13.75 x 17p 3 blade.
I am happy with the overall performance of the prop I have now.

Now I am wanting to change from aluminum to stainless steel. In general, what do I need to consider in swapping over? What are the benefits of going to stainless? What are the draw backs? I am going to stay with the 3 blade. Any feed back on this would be great. I understand there are no 100% without putting it on the boat and running it. I just need education to reduce the chances of error.

Boat: 2007 Wellcraft sportsman 180, 20 degree dead rise v hull.
Motor: 2007 E-Tec 115 hp.
Prop: Aluminum 3 blade originally 13.75 x 20 from dealer horribly over propped. I brought it to the local prop guy and with a little love from a hammer the "old timer prop man." adjusted to 17p.

You're still kinda shooting in the dark. Your "17" probably isn't like a real 17" pitch aluminum prop. That's a decent boat, I wouldn't be surprised if you will end up with something like a 19 Stiletto by maxing out the set up. You definately should be able to swing a 17. A lot depends on the intended use and load.

Once you go to a ss prop you'll be able to work your set up a lot more to gain max efficiency.
