Easy to remove and replace flywheel on BF8A?

I have a used BF8A, 8 HP 4-stroke, that I got with boat a few months ago. It is probably anywhere from a '91 to about a '94. Has no spark. Kill (safety) switch seems OK - when disconnected and checked with ohmmeter, it goes from open to closed circuit (though I forget whether it is open or clised in each position). It sat on transom for 2 yrs unused, but winterized.

I have checked obvious wire connections for corrosion, all seem OK, including top of the coil. Various wires run under the flywheel area. To avoid a costly service trip, I'd like to at least look at the connections under the flywheel - it is possible there is corrosion that if cleaned would fix it (hey, I'm optimistic). I don't want to do this if removing the flywheel is difficult, or if replacing it needs special knowledge (like positioning it correctly for timing) or tools - like do you need some kind of special puller?

Anyone have any advice? Thanks.

You need proper tools to remove nut & flywheel from crank shaft assy, it's not a hard banging issue as you could break magnets under flywheel as has happened. Take engine to a competent service shop.

Happy Boating

Thanks for the reply! Now that I know it is a more complex, risky task I'll plan on a trip to the Honda dealer.
