About 2 months ago I sold a nice 1967 50 horse merc on ebay with the condition that the buyer will take care of transport.I would take it to the transport company for him.The guy paid for the engine,I crated it and sent him the dimensions so he can make arrangements. Then,no more contact.I emailed him 4 times so far and left him phone messages.I even went so far as to check his auction history and saw that he has bought another thing on ebay since the engine.
The engine is his,but it is in my garage. What should I do next??

send him a certified letter via us postal mail. State that if arrangements are not made in 2 weeks, he will forfeit his enginer or you will have to charge extremely high storage fees!

Re: ebay problem.

you can request a member's information, phone # and address. Has to be someone you've had an auction with. I'd sure try to give him a call. I assume it was a fair amount of $? Or maybe it wasn't much and the shipping charges were going to eat him alive and he thinks this is the best way to end it and not get neg feedback.

Rolmops - do what Noel and crazy said and request his user info via the help board or look on the site map under buyer services for contact info.
I had this happen on a smaller item . Sometimes things happen.

Re: ebay problem.

I was going through old mail one day and came across a check from an ebay auction that was 2 months past. It was only a $10 auction.
We have so many auctions around the busy time, we don't track them, as they are paid, they ship. we don't go after the non-payers, not worth our time.

The envelope was from his business, looked just like junk mail. I called him up, he had been out with serious medical problems for a couple months, so he never followed up either.

It's very possible this person has other things going on, and also very possible his spam filter is killing your emails and he's not even getting them.

So the same thoughts.... lots of patience, ya never know when ya might hear from him, you've got the money, so if you have room to store it, why not.... but I would say, after 6 months, it's time for a re-sale without refund.

Re: ebay problem.

As a seller I have experienced not only the spam filters kicking my email out, but the actual medical emergency that took a buyer right out of commission. Dig out his info and call him up.

I also have experinced lame *** flakes that bid high on some large (or small) item and then just completely flake out, but those people never pay. My guess is that if he paid, and didn't follow through on shipping, then there's a reasonable explanation.
