You will need to get a new intake. They are less than 200 bucks for a new one from Michigan Motors.

The Edelbrock carb will bolt right up with no adapter plates needed. These engines come stock with a Weber 4 barrel carb which is identical to a 1409. You will just have to modify your fuel line. No biggy...

I've got the carb and the performer intake bolted up already...

I the issue is the fuel inlet on the bigger 4bbl (1409) and the shift linkage...

I need to "SEE" what others have done to fix the clearance issues.

Here's pic of what I'm talking about... less than 2" clearance

I just cut the exact fuel line that you need so I could put a Rochester on my 4.3. You need to make a fuel line by bending up some steel fuel line to look like #7 in this link.

I dont have a pic of my fuel line from my carb before I cut it up. The guy I bought my boat from had installed an auto Edelbrock carb and I immediately took it off and replaced it with a Quadrajet I had laying around...

well my line bender and flare tool cannot bend a tight enough 90*...

I"ll figure something out....

Did you see the banjo style fitting I posted on your other thread?

This is the fuel line i used on mine, but it is a 5.7. I still have plenty of room between the carb and shift linkage though.

There ya go! That looks like it would do the trick I had seen this one.

This is what I went with...I found one at Harry's Hotrod shop.

Worked like a champ.

Good deal! I thought that would give you plenty of clearance :)
