Hey guys I need some help with batteries. I noticed at Dicks Sporting Goods they have a ?Stowaway? battery for 139.99 ST31DC205 205 reserve capacity 115 amp hours. I need two and have two coupons for $10 off on $50 or more which would make them 129 ea. Went to bass pro and they have an xps power series 175 xpsdc27 for 139 its rated at 175 reserve capacity and 90 amp hours, also they have a xps power series 185 185 reserve capacity and 105 amp hours for 154.99. On paper it seems like the stowaway is a better value. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Not trying to be cheap just trying to stretch my small budget a little farther! Thanks

cabela's has series 27 agm batteries on sale for $149--check out crankin' amps & reserve cap.-----they will give you twice the life of traditional batteries---i have had exceptional luck with them--one set is 4 years old in the heat of florida.

Re: edge 55 trolling motor batteries

you are wise to use the reserve capacity as a guide ..its how long in minutes it will supply 25 A ..approx what a trolling motor will pull on average divide the RC by the cost so you will have the number of minuites per $ ...

Re: edge 55 trolling motor batteries

You are comparing a group size 31 (Stowaway) and a Group side 27 (Bass Pro). Big difference in batteries. You might also check your local (out of city) farm stores and even some auto stores for deep cycle batteries. My local farm store has Group 27 deep cycles for $75 regularly and group size 29/31 for under $100. Less when on-sale. My boats are kept for four years and the original Fleet Farm batteries are working just fine when the boat gets replaced. Any battery can fail and when they do it is usually because they were not properly maintained. So you don't need to spend big bucks for a battery. If you are a tournament fisherperson then perhaps (but just perhaps) it would be an advantage to have a hi-tech battery. Sam's Club stores used to carry Stowaways and they were nowhere near the $139 you are seeing.

Finally went to tractor supply found a stowaway battery for 84.99 182 reserve minutes and 104 amp hrs .. haven't bought them yet but I think losing 23 mins on each battery is worth the savings
