Electric Choke on 67 Evinrude 18?

Hi all...
I am totally baffled by this. Recently changed over a manual to electric start on my 18 fastwin. The person I got the starter from included an electric choke. I have tried numerous configerations to line this thing up, short of getting out my hacksaw!
Was the 67 evinrude ever designed to accomodate the electric choke? The manual choke that is on there now works fine. The choke bracket has two screws that attach to the side of the carburator and one that goes to the underside of the bowl. The linkage is not cooperating at all. If I have the bracket on, then the manual choke arm will not work because the new bracket causes it to sit over too far and will not line up with the original hole in the pan. The owner's manual stated there was an electric starter available but nothing about the electric choke. Should I just forget about it and leave it off, or does anyone have any suggestions or possibly a picture on a web site that would enable me to visualize how this thing mounts.
Thanks and happy motoring:)

I don't really remember, but it seem's you need the carb with proper linkage for the electric choke. If you are running the engine with the tiller handle I really see no need for the electric choke. If you are using remote control's, and the engine is out of reach, then you would want it working.

The carbs are universal. The electric choke should mount on it. And yes, if you have remote controls on it you will need an electric choke. It's got to be a linkage issue.

Re: Electric Choke on 67 Evinrude 18?

I do not know how many different carburators are offered for the 67? The boat has a key switch I installed in conjunction with installing the starter. I am sure it is a linkage problem as well, however since the bracket appears to work just fine, I am curious as to why the manual choke location on the bracket does not allow use of the existing choke hole in the pan. Also, I have read threads on 1957 18's with an electric start, but nothing is mentioned about the choke. Thanks for the site for the diagram, however would appreciate anyone with an 18 to take a picture of how it is mounted: especially how the linkage is ran. Respond via Private Messages and I will give you my email address...and post the findings on site to help the next mate along:)

I am including a picture of the parts in the hopes someone might be able to tell me if this is even the right part #308364 for the bracket?
