Hi, i have a question about carburetors on a 1956 30 hp johnson. i just purchased an used carburetor to replace my old one, the one i got does not have electric choke, my old one does. as far as differences goes they are both pretty much alike. QUESTION!!! WILL THIS CARBURETOR WORK ON MY MOTOR. OR WILL MY MOTOR WORK WITH THIS CARBURETOR WITHOUT THE ELECTRIC CHOKE?
P.S. electric choke, i don't know what it is, i have never even used.
THANK YOU GUYS!!!:)

electric choke is that metal cylinder looking thing with a shaft and linkage/spring attached to the carburetor with a single wire coming off of it.....

in other word its just a solenoid that pulls the choke linkage when you flip the button on the controls so you dont have to manually pull the choke. so no you do not need to have it to have the carburetor work.....

now that i anwered choke question mebbe sharing what the new carb is off of or a number of it one of the more knowledgable guys here could tell ya if you even have the right carb.

Re: Electric Choke Question...

thanks, yes that is the electric choke i am talking about, so i don't have on then do i just cut and cap the single wire ( i guess i a hot wire right) the 2 carburators are pretty close on looks and size the numbers are 304031 on the original and 304032 on the replacement. so are this two interchangeable?
thank you so much...
