Hey guys,
I have an 88 3.0 140hp mercruise with what I believe is a Rochester 2 barrel.
The electric choke has always had a broken wire on the front of it. Should it be attached to the purple wire comming out of the harness? Also is there anyway to test it to see if it is actually working? The wire it the one on the bottom side fron of the choke.

Yes, the purple wire goes to the choke. Also the black is the ground.
When the engine is cold, the choke should be closed. If you turn the key to the run position, the choke should slowly open if it is getting power and works.

Should there be power from the purple wire when the ignition is turned off?
