So I couldnt rebuild my Qjet because it was missing parts, but I am getting a rebuilt one with electric choke.

Q.. How do I wire the electric choke since there is no existing wire in the harness for it?

Thank you as usual.

The choke coil needs to see key on 12V constant.
I don't know where you would pick up power for it if its not in the harnes. You could always run a line to the battery + (fused of course) and through a relay to the choke coil. From there you can grab the ignition coils + to trip the relay to give you 12V when the key is in the run position, and turn off the juice when the key is off.

Some come off the purple wire that goes to the coil + terminal.
Some use the AC tap off the alternator.

Either method will work.

I just did the same thing last summer. It's the purple wire on a Mercruiser. Use a volt meter to confirm it on yours.

Yup. its the Purple Wire. i guest in most boats. its usually the purple wire provide power when the key is on.

Go to Autozone and buy a Clap which will go around the purple wire and clap and puncture into the purple wire. which you could connect a male into it.

its great...

Actually.... not so great. Not for salt water at least. Those type of connections are guaranteed to fail in short order. Better to cut and splice into the wire with the appropriate marine grade electrical connector and heat shrink.

(This is not an auto-vs-marine safety issue, but rather a salt laden marine environment issue that corrodes normal automotive electrical connectors.)

NEVER, NEVER, EVER use those %#@&^$% things on a boat, anywhere, anytime.

It cuts the insulation on the wire and from there corrosion starts and the wire breaks.

Worst invention ever. They should be outlawed on boats or anything else for that matter.
