electric choke

hello all, 1967 950ss, was having problems, and dicided to rewire inside of motor, wires were real bad, everything worked before and now the choke dont, my luck,, checked wire from sol> plug OK, but noticed that this wire is also grounded, is this right?, also checked sol with jumper and it works, also checked switch with ohm meter from gray>white that checks ok if thats the way to check it, this grounded wire from choke is throwing me for a loop please explain, thanks all you love this sight you guys/gals are GREAT

The wire fronm the solinoid should be joined at a insulated block not grounded, also the solinoid body should have a ground wire from one of the mounting bolts to one of the bolts that hold the spark advance bracket to the block--Bob

the post on sol is also grounded without wire attached, even thou it works with a jumper does this mean sol is bad
