Electric fuel pump voltage and operation

Thanks to the experts on this site I think I might have my gummed up electric fuel pump fixed. 96 150 EFI. I soaked it all night and kept checking it but no hum. Finally it broke loose and runs. Is there suppose to be voltage to this pump even with the key off? I get some. Does the pump need everything hooked up with pressure to work? I thought it would pump out my solvent but doesn't.

BTW, there should be no power to it with the key off. I'm assuming you are going through a relay to power it. That would be the culprit.

I'm not sure what kind of pump it is because it is inclosed. Once I got it hooked back up and put a tester on it there was not current. Turned on the key and it hummed real nice. But while hooking the wires back on I got a spark from the hot lead, key off. Hopefully everything is ok. Now I will try to install my first impeller. T

the spark is normal for that engine. the ECU is hot all the time as is the voltage regulator. it usually measure abot 800 milliamps. over time it will kill a battery. thats where battery switches are nice.<br /> good luck and keep posting

Getting 34 lbs of pressure out of fuel pump but still no fuel to cylinders. Any suggestions? Could the injectors be gummed up also?
