Re: Electric shift

Hi Louie:

I answered your other post thinking you had a mechanical shift. On the electric shift: when the stern drive is off the boat, and you're standing in front of it (you can see the ball gear) the electric shift wires should be coming through the housing to the right side of the ball gear. On the intermediate housing on the boat, looking at the stern of the boat there should be a hole through the intermediate housing into the engine bay. That hole is directly lined up with the one on the stern drive where the wires are coming out of.

When you push the wires through that hole, you should be able to find them on the inside of the transom, coming through just above the tilt motor on the right side of the engine. They'll meet up with two wires that have the same type of knife connectors. Sorry, my manual actually doesn't show a picture of it (oddly).

Thank you I got it now, I will double check that in the morning I just did not see the hole.

Re: Electric shift

I think he meant left of the ball gears (port).

Sort of (though superbenk is correct) - I probably just wasn't clear. I was thinking looking at the stern drive (off the boat) from the front of the drive (as if you WERE the boat) and can see the ball gear on the stern drive - it's to the right of the gear. However, if you're being correct about things: The wires are on the port side of the drive when considering the entire vessel.
