Electric start for 1996 Honda 25 hp

I just purchased a 1996 Alumacraft Lunker V14 LTD with a 1996 25 hp Honda (BF25AMLHA long shaft, tiller, manual start, 6 amp charging system). Is it possible to add electric start to this motor? If so is there a conversion kit from Honda or would I need the parts off a junk motor? <br /><br />It's my understanding that the powerhead on the Honda 25 and 30 hp models are identical except for the carbs. How difficult / expensive would it be to upgrade the carbs to upgrade the motor from 25 hp to 30 hp? <br /><br />Any tips on winterizing a 25 hp Honda prior to storage? I will be storing boat and motor in an unheated storage shed in northern Minnesota.<br /><br />Thanks in advance for sharing your expertise and advice.<br /><br />johnb

Conversion kits are readily available from Honda, but they are not cheap.You will be changeing the flywheel,adding the starter and relays,cables and other switches and do dats that go with the conversion.Block and tiller should be ready to accept all these add ons but I have'nt done one. in a while.

Thanks Hondon for the reply. I checked with both my local dealer and directly with Honda Marine customer service. Both sources told me that Honda does not make a conversion kit for adding electric start to a manual start Honda outboard. Honda indicated there might be aftermarket kits available, but not from them. Do you have any ideas on where to source such a kit? Alternative would be make up my own "kit" with new and/or used parts. Thanks again for your help.<br /><br />johnb

Sorry for the poor info.Honda does not make that conversion readily available and the one I did a few years ago was custom packaged for a customer with special needs.Will try to get you that part list. My bad.
