My Yamaha 150 has electric trim that kind of works. I ruled out the relays because they have good voltage coming out of them. If you hold the tilt up or down it will work then quit, while it has stopped I tapped the motor with a wrench then it made it work briefly. Are the trim motors serviceable or do I have to replace it?

Re: Electric trim on 150h Yamaha

Hi, I have the same problem on my Yamaha Power Trim Tilt motor.

I removed the motor (2 wire , 3 bolt mounting) and tested off the boat.

With 12.95v input voltage the motor would not spin, give it a tap with
a screwdriver - it start working - discount voltage - reconnect voltage - same problem.

I managed to remove the 3 screws securing the outer housing and took it
to an auto electrical , the bushes were worn and contacts pitted and windings looked very dodgy - time for a new one.

I am in the UK - new one is costing me ?200! I tried importing one from US - Arco 6260 but Shippings costs blew that idea out of the water.

Hope this helps
