Re: Electrical connection??

Hi, I have also go a yamaha but mine is 40hp I am looking to do the same thing, althought my engine may be very old and tests indicate it is a 6volt, and I have been told that it won't charge a 12 volt battery, the centre pin on by harness seems to be earth, and two of the remaining 6 pins seem to be live when I pull the starter cord, at a guess if the engine is regulated to give no more than 15v you can connect this upto your 12v battery, if it is not regulated and goes up and down with your rev's then you will need to fit a regulator between the battery and you harness plug, but I am no electrican
