When I bought my 18ft boat new last year, I called the boat manufacturer and asked them for an electrical diagram for my model boat. His response was they dont have one. Is it common for a boat manufacture not to have a electrical diagram for a small boat?
Ed

Probably! Chances are the instrument panel is provided by an outside vendor and is simply plugged into the main boat harness at assembly time. Most small boat wiring leaves a lot to be desired anyway so it is not surprising you got the answer you did. They very likely have a harness diagram but that is simply a drawing that shows how a harness is built and is different than a schematic. Helpful, but not as good as a schematic for troubleshooting.

Wasn't an Alumacraft was it??
I called them to ask about some fuses and circuits that were mislabelled and asked for a wiring diagram. Same answer as you, We don't have one, we don't do the wiring and the company that does it don't use them anyway. I started with a clean sheet of paper and just traced and pinned out everything myself. Took a while but It was all I could do...W
