Forgive me if I'm leaving something out. I've decided to post since my husband is fed up with trying to get this issue resolved.

We have a 2000 Triton 22' bass boat with a Yamaha 225 EFI VMax. Gas is leaking out of injectors when the engine key is off. Something is taking a charge off the battery. We've had the boat in the shop for 2.5 months now, and they can't get to the source. Apparently the Yamaha reps say the engine was designed not to do this. Sounds like an electrical problem, any ideas? Thanks in advance! -Kim

Hi, Kim.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Does the leaking continue with the battery disconnected?

Is the leaking external on the engine? Where?

Let us know.

Hi JB, thanks for responding.

As soon as you turn the key on, it stops leaking. And when the battery is dead it's not leaking gas, so the answer is no.

The gas is coming out of the injectors, it leaks so much that eventually the cover(?) to the injectors fills up and then the gas starts leaking everywhere ... into the water or on the ground and what not. Is that clear?

Hi Kim.
It sounds like there is a relay switch jamed in the on position.

Yes, Kim. That is clear, but I don't have an answer to it.

There must be an electrical device in the fuel metering train that should "turn off" when the key is off but is still at least partially "on", allowing stored fuel pressure to get to the injectors.

This seems to me like an engine electrical problem, so I am going to move it to Yamaha Troubles so our Yammysperts can get a better look at it.

Good luck. :)
