ELECTRICAL PROBLEM

85, V6, 3.8L, OMC 800 stringer. When I turn on my navigation light switch, my temp gauge pegs out all the way over, my fuel gauge jumps to full, my rpm gauge jumps to zero and my dash light quit working. This is with or without the engine running. One thing that may be contributing to this and I'm not sure about it is: When I got the boat, it had the normal 3 way ignition switch but there were no keys. I put on a 4 way switch. Could this be the problem? The 4 way switch isn't a marine type switch...just the regular ole wal-mart 4 way ignition switch.

Cal

Re: ELECTRICAL PROBLEM

Bad connection will do that every time... My bet is in the light circut somewhere, possibly in the gauge lights themselves.....
