Re: electromatic

It should be in fwd gear just sitting there. The motor has to be running to shift into neutral or reverse. Make sure you use type C or premium oil in the lower unit.

Re: electromatic

The throttle handle on that mtr moves a switch in the control box which in turn activates the solenoids in the g/c. but, the mtr has to be running to make it go into fwd or rev. The solenoids tell the oil pump in the g/c as to what gr to put it in and the mtr has to be running to make the oil pump work.

Re: electromatic

Which engine do you have? Electromatic sounds like a 40hp, but if its a 55hp or 60hp, it would be a hydroelectric, which is a different system.

Re: electromatic

ELECTRAMATIC is electric clutches. Default is neutral when not running. There are no solenoids. Exhaust comes out above/rear of the propeller.

HYDRO_ELECTRIC is hydraulic shifted, electric solenoids operate control valves that cause the hydraulic system to shift it. Default is forward gear when not running. It must be running to shift out of forward. Exhaust comes out through the center of the propeller.

The two systems are totally different.
