Can anybody please help me choose a nice fish finder /GPS that is not too pricey but well worth the money. I mainly would need it for saltwater fishing.

Re: Electronic Help ?

What is your budget? And roughly the maximum depth of water you want to work? (That will determine the best frequency)....

Hi there BigDog98, Welcome to iboats!;)

Iboats offers some really nice affordable Fish finder/gps combinations to consider. Below is a link to most of them for you.

GPS Chartplotter / Fish Finders - iboats

Both the Lowrance Elite 7 HDI and Lowrance HDS-7 gen2 touch seemed to be well like by most users but unfortunately these units are going to be a bit more than $250.00.:(

I will consider one of those. Thank You. I actually own a FishFinder right now that i am planning on installing soon. I have a Garmin FishFinder140. But it is crappy on my opinion for the hundred and some what dollars i paid for it. Nothing good can be from that !

Somewhere in the $250 range. :joyous:

You're not going to get much in a combo unit for that... (In fact, I'd be surprised if you could get anything reasonable for under about $1,000.... Especially a combo)

One of the best combo units around at the moment is the Furuno GP-1870F. It has a very good sounder and the GPS is everything you'd expect from Furuno, but it's close to 6 times your budget...

You need to either increase the budget, or lower you expectations, or decide what you need more, GPS or sounder (and then increase your budget)....

What i want to do is try and find out if the Garmin FishFinder140 is a good unit and then i will just buy a separate GPS. I think I could find a GPS unit for $250 or less!! :)

I just got a humminbird 385ci di combo, im pleased with it even tho the screen is a little small. Your budget is way too low for even it tho its around 400. They aint cheap, and the cool thing was the old humminbird transducer had the same bolt pattern.
