New to the forum. Yamaha 50`s X 2 Cold motors doing fine in Normal position. When motor is warm(10 minutes of running) both only running in open position of emergency f. e. switch. Carbs have been cleaned several times, but still problem. ? Fuel oil mix problem? Currently using 1:50 ratio. The fact that both motors are doing exactly the same thing tells me it is a generic problem like the mix?

Dont know what year and modles you have ,but 50:1 (Gas/Oil)should be correct if it is a 2 stroke and not a 4.
What type fuel and oil you using?
Is this problem at idle or higher speeds also?
Are both fed from same tank?
What all have you tryed so far?

Re: Emergency fuel enrichment switch

Thanks for response. 1990 Yamaha 2 stroke. Unleaded fuel with marine twostroke(Caltex) . Have been using it for years with good results. If the fuel enrichment switch is in normal position it runs well while cold but stalls if placed in gear and throttle opened. If switched to open position, motors run well enough to proceed but not perfect. Separate tanks are used. I`ve cleaned the carbs, checked the fuel filters, replaced one fuel line connector. Checked priming bulbs. I conclude that the fuel supply is sufficient. I`m thinking that the fuel mix might be to lean? not enough lube?

Sounds to me like you still have carb problems, plugged passages or adjustment problems. Strange that they are both doing the same thing. Maybe the way have been adjusted since you have cleaned and adjusted both motors the same

I would be amazed that both enigines are having hte exact same issues after carb cleanings, unless the adjustments are off and they are both set the same. I would double check the fuel supply lines to enure no kinks of restrictions...

Thanks for both the responses. Will spend some more time on both of them.Maybe I`ve missed some dirt somewhere. The unleaded was purchased in Xai-Xai on the Mozambique coast...maybe dirty fuel to start of with!

definatly dirty carbs. by opening the manual enrichment your simply bypassing
the idle circuits.
