After 120 hours running time, we do have to change all sparkles. Switching forth and back the engine was stopping...
Does somebody think this is normal after 120 hours using this engine when advertising is talking about 300 hours without maintenance ??
Running the computer against it nothing has been recorded as bad...
Activities:Wakeboard and fishing.
Thanks for answering if same problem noticed.

Welcome!!

They never said "no maintenance" -- they say no dealer scheduled maintenance. On the few we've seen, that's not unusual.

Your first post here. What made you come here to ask about your E-TEC?

See your dealer. If the motor isn't warming up enough due to thermostats or a relief valve problem, the computer will add more spark and fuel to the engine, wearing out the plugs sooner.

There is also an improved sparkplug deflector pin that your dealer can install and give you a new set of plugs under warranty.

both these items are covered under warranty and are in factory service bulletins.

Thanks to all of you, i will try to get thoses improved plugs. So far so good, the engine is running ok at the moment.
i'm not sure there could be a thermostat problem since a new EC has been applied (Drill a hole at the thermostat level..!this has been done as soon as i got the engine).
Our water temp here is varying from 15 degre C to 28 degre C, so i hope is not a valve problem, i'm assuming the little computer externaly connected will send us this data. Apparently not.. no error recorded.
Have a good day.

The valve is just a spring loaded pressure relief valve for the cooling water inside the engine block. Sometimes the internal seal will leak a bit and the motor will not warm up enough at idle. It is easily replaced if faulty.

The engine computer report printout has a graph that tells the running time at different engine temperatures.
