Engine acting strange after impeller change

Hello,

I noticed a heating issue a few weeks ago so i checked the impeller and it was in really bad shape. I opened the hose leaving the water pump and a few pieces came out.

Day 1 - Boat starts up fine and engine is cooling and maintains temperature around 175 degrees. When I start to head out from the dock, moves fine but as I start increasing speed (between 2500 - 3000 rpm), I notice its not catching speed and seems like its going back to idle (doesn't turn off) . I turned engine off, waited a minute, turned it on again and this time gradually increased speed (very slowly this time) and it caught speed fine. Just to test it again I turned engine off and turned it on again and speed caught fine. I could not go very fast for very long because of wakes.

Day 2 - Water was calm, i very slowly increased speed and it was fine and i maintained speed with full throttle. As i did that i noticed my speed was getting faster. I did full throttle in 20 minute intervals 3 times so total 1 hr running time. No issues, worked great.

Day 3 - Took the boat out again, took off just fine but the wakes were getting bigger over time, so only took it out for 20 minutes at 3500 rpm i noticed a hiccup and i slowed down, after that it did the same thing where it would idle as i increased speed (when i increase more than 2100rpm). So i took the boat back to the dock at 2000 rpm (15 minutes) away. Before i wanted to take the boat out of the water, i turned the engine off for like 15 minutes and i thought i'd try again and it ran smooth, reached full throttle just fine. Ran it for about 15 minutes no issues.

What could be causing this intermittent issue?

I'm thinking fuel system problem.
Fuel pump
Fuel filter (pump and/or carb)
Carb

Remove the fuel filter bowl and catch all that comes out of the bowl in something. Look thru it and see if there is anything but clean gas.

Remove the fuel line going into the carb and check the filter behind the line

If any crud is found in either filters, need to get into the carb

If all good, need to check fuel pressure and should be 4 to 7 psi

No its if you have digital throttle controls (drive by wire) or regular cable controls. Seeing this is a GL you wouldn't have digital

Hi
was the impeller replaced after a breakdown or overheating ?
