Hello,
I noticed a heating issue a few weeks ago so i checked the impeller and it was in really bad shape. I opened the hose leaving the water pump and a few pieces came out.
Day 1 - Boat starts up fine and engine is cooling and maintains temperature around 175 degrees. When I start to head out from the dock, moves fine but as I start increasing speed (between 2500 - 3000 rpm), I notice its not catching speed and seems like its going back to idle (doesn't turn off) . I turned engine off, waited a minute, turned it on again and this time gradually increased speed (very slowly this time) and it caught speed fine. Just to test it again I turned engine off and turned it on again and speed caught fine. I could not go very fast for very long because of wakes.
Day 2 - Water was calm, i very slowly increased speed and it was fine and i maintained speed with full throttle. As i did that i noticed my speed was getting faster. I did full throttle in 20 minute intervals 3 times so total 1 hr running time. No issues, worked great.
Day 3 - Took the boat out again, took off just fine but the wakes were getting bigger over time, so only took it out for 20 minutes at 3500 rpm i noticed a hiccup and i slowed down, after that it did the same thing where it would idle as i increased speed (when i increase more than 2100rpm). So i took the boat back to the dock at 2000 rpm (15 minutes) away. Before i wanted to take the boat out of the water, i turned the engine off for like 15 minutes and i thought i'd try again and it ran smooth, reached full throttle just fine. Ran it for about 15 minutes no issues.
What could be causing this intermittent issue?
