Pulled my SX-A outdrive today for annual check. Everything looks great, but the alignment tool seems a little stiffer sliding in the final 2 inches or so into the coupler than a year ago. Looking at grease marks on the tool when I pull it back out, the top has spline marks right at the tip, and the spline marks are about 1.5 inches back from the tip on the bottom.

Should I adjust for this little bit of stiffness? If adjusting, I am picturing that I just need to raise the front mounts (4.3 V6) a little bit to get it aligned perfectly - am I thinking about it right? Is there ever a reason during routine maintenance to have to adjust the rear mounts? Looks painful to get to the rears.
