I bought a Chris Craft Sea Hawk 215 last year and I'm currently in the process of restoring it. Last year me and some friends took it out on the ocean to do some fishing and one thing that bothered me was that any water that came into the boat via spray our by washing the deck down went into the engine bay instead of out the shelf balers do to the engine bay not having a seal. My question is what do you guys recommend to fix this issue? A seal that mounts to the deck for the hatch to rest on, a seal on the rim of the hatch? Any
particular product our brand I should use? Any help with this would be much appreciated.

I'm not sure that boat has scuppers that drain out of the hull. I think everything drains to the bilge: right under the engine, assuming you're running an I/O (they were available in I/O and Outboard). On most true "self bailing" hulls, you can see sunlight through the scuppers; not always but it's a good start.

If you've got drains on the deck, I'd chase the drain. Good chance it's dumping right to the bilge and the bilge pump is expected to keep up.

Welcome aboard.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... It's done in various ways on different boats,.....

One common way is, there's a small lip cast into the edge of the deck, inside the motor box, which blocks the water flow into the bilge,.....

Southkogs the boat is an I/O and the drains actually drain out the hull and not into the bilge. Also you guys mentioned a gutter our lip cast. Any recommendations on where I can buy one.

the boat would have had one unless someone removed it. in that case, you need to re-make it which would require fabricating a mold, making the parts, then grafting them into the hull.
