Hi Guys. You know the blue plastic screw in plug on the side of the block for draining the raw water.Well it broke on Sunday evening.I,m thinking of getting a brass fosset type drain valve and extend it about 3 1/2" out from the block to stop the water running down the side of engine leaving brown stains.Could the engine vibs cause the valve to snap off.I don,t want to be out on the water and this thing snap off and fill the bilge with water or the engine over heat. Regards. 3L(LX)135HP alpha 1 gen 2 (99 year)

Re: Engine block drain

Brass is the way to go.The only way it will break is if you are planning on hitting it with a hammer. Those plastic drains really stink.they always break. There was a post not too long ago where someone was asking if they should change the plastic before they failed and there were more than a few knuckleheads that said not to bother changing them.Plastic and engine blocks and manifolds dont go hand and hand.Charlie
