Hi,
I have a 1972 searay 240 with twin 165 hp mercs. the starboard engine just had a carb rebuild, but i still have the same problem. the engine will idle when started. after it warms up, i can rev the rpms up while in neutral. i traveled about three miles at slow speed(5mph). once i reached the mouth of the harbor, i tried to go to full power (slowly), the engine loss power and began to backfire. it died and would not start for at least 10 minutes. it would not allow me to increase rpms even in neutral. any ideas?

thank you in advance.

Re: engine bogs

check water separator and anti-siphon valve and fuel pump pressure.

Ayuh,.... Sounds like it's Starving for Fuel,...

The Fuel Filters are the place to Start,... Easiest anyways,...
Is the other motor runnin' alright,..??
Do they share fuel,..??
Swap the Fuel Pumps,+ see if the problem follows it...
A Remote fuel tank is a handy diagnostic tool...
