1. my soon to be new boat has a factory installed engine bracket. other than giving me more room in the cockpit with a closed transom, and the extra difficulty in docking, does the bracket provide any other advantages?

2. engine on this new boat is a 2002 yamaha f225. i looked at the prop (black ss) and found a 17M marking. dealer said the prop size was 15 1/4 x 17. does this sound right? if it get this combo up to 6000 rpms (i think that's what i want) pushing approx 5300#, are indications that the engine is running normal?

in addition to what you mentioned, you should revieve:

1. better fuel economy
2. more speed
3. a neet platform to pee from

really, check out the sites for stainless marine or gil and read what they have to say. be lucky, lots of people have to pay upwards of 1500 to 2000 for a platform like yours.

they offer nothing but advantages. feel good!
