engine burning more oil.

I have a 89 johnson 120 v4 vro i just had it all serviced compression checked and eveything, and a new power pack runs great. but i just recently replaced the gas line from the tank and the oil line from the vro, and suddenly the motor is burning oil faster, and takes a few tries more to start. what might this problem be or is it a problem, could the old oil lines just have been old and clogged?? thanks a lot

You've more likely got an air leak in your gas line. This causes the diaphragm in the VRO to pump faster and overmix the oil.
