Looking to re-power a 23' Clipper Craft lapstrake dory. They are known for being very light and efficient. They come up on plane quite nicely with four cylinder I/O's from the seventies (125-140 hp). I have two engines with low to no hours that are available in my limited price range.
One is an AQ130D (4cyl 2.0l) and the other is an AQ171C (4 cyl 2.5L DOHC). Both engines will do the job, but what will the extra 40 ponies do to top speed, cruising speed, and fuel economy?
