engine control box

i have a 140 johnson and the control box is messed up .. i need to know if an after market box will work on it .its a 77 or 78 johnsonn 140 . withh power tilt and trim... i found one on a web site and they said it would work on any but i need to know for sure . thankss joe

well i know there is a cut off date on the boxes, as in the engine check deal its all electronic now. I believe the old boxes are all interchangeable. they have the white ones and the black ones. the newer ones only have a plug that go for the box to the motor.

Check E-Bay, I got one for mine for 75.00!
