Re: engine coupler

hello
nope. sadly it cannot. the engine must be pulled to replace a coupler. I would be more concerned with why it failed. they are expensive but rarely fail with a 4 banger. it is the same coupler the v8 used. most failures are due to rotten transoms. rotten front mount stringers or lack of yearly drive removal, greasing the splines and drive shaft alignment checks. in anycase its mostly a maint issue. pay now or pay later but if its a boat you will pay :) :) :) . also check the gimbal bearing and ujoints while its all apart.
good luck and keep posting :)

Re: engine coupler

Check the splines on the shaft once you get the drive off. If they're sharp, they'll take a new coupler out quick. It'd suck to have to do it all over again in a few months!
