In the process of changing out my 1988 7.4 liter engine and after removing the engine coupler i noticed rubber shavings around the inside hub. I believe the hub has been spinning because I've had a problem with the engine turning up and the boat bogging down.
My question is this the right coupler for this 7.4 bravo one . Its the triangular one part # 18643A5. In all the listings for this coupler the largest engine i can find is the 5.7. I checked my engine # on mercruiser and it shows two different ones, the one I have and another one part # is sierra 18-2412 which is round and looks like it is more heavy duty. I guess someone before me may have put these on maybe because they are cheaper.
