Hello everybody.
Let me start by saying I am a rookie boat owner and have no experience with fixing this kind of thing.. it is all new to me, so any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
I have a 98 Stingray 190 LX, and the hinges supporting the Engine Cover/Lid/Hatch rotted out.
I have taken off the engine hatch and have pulled back the vinyl upholstery to see what was going on and I have attached some pictures to show you what I found. The corners are obviously in rough shape and need some attention.
* What should I do?* Epoxy, Wood Putty?* or could it possibly be beyond repair?I was hoping I could get about a 60 inch piece of stainless steel piano hinge (or two 24 inch pieces) to run across the back edge so I can drill into the wood that is still in good shape, but I realize the corners need some attention before I proceed. For now I have it baking out in the sun to get rid of as much moisture as possible.
Also, I need to know what kind of fastners should I use to fasten the hinge to the back edge of the engine cover? Anything special?
