I have a 1988 Johnson VRO 90 and I am wondering if a 1992 Johnson 120 will fit my engine. My current cowl is damaged and I am looking for a replacement. If the 120 will fit my problem will be solved. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks,
Chris

I don't have both cowls. I'm looking at one on E-Bay.

Seems that all of the 120 hp engines are 90 degree as your 88' 90 hp.It should fit .May have to adjust the latch.

A 120 horse cowl will not fit your 90. These are 2 different engine families. Your 90 is based on the old style cross-charged V-4 99.6 CID. The 120 is based on the newer loop charged engines at 122 cid. This cowl will not fit!
LW

Would it help if I also bought the lower cowling? It is for sale as well. I just need to know if it is possible to put this Cowling on my engine. Thanks

The lower cowls mount differently on the crossflows and the loopers (no matter which looper). The lower is what determines which hood will work. Unfortunately they will not interchange.

Sorry!

The 120, 130, 140-"90 degree" cowls will NOT fit your "crossflow" 90. As I mentioned before, the 88 SPL, 90, 100 GT, 110, 112 SPL, 115 crossflow will fit.
