Hello, today I started my boat at the house it started fine. However it had a moment where it sounded like it wanted to stall out until I gave it some gas. I let it run for a few then I took it to the water then started it, it then ran for a minute then stalled now it won't star at all. Please help!

start with the basics. condition of plugs, wires, cap, rotor. getting fuel? how old is gas in the tank? was motor winterized properly? many, many things it could be. check for compression, fire, and gas. go from there.

I have been using it for the past few weekends and it was fine. However I put a gasket on my timing chain cover and had to put the water pump back on. Would this effect it?

no. if motor is carberated, you should be able to take throttle cable off, move throttle lever back and forth while looking down the carb. you should see gas squirt. check for spark at plugs. check fuses as well, sometimes a 10 cent fuse will stop your day.

yes the motor is carberated. I would have a real strong gas smell After I would pump it before starting. Fuses?

Re: Engine cranks but no start

a real strong gas smell could be an indication of flooding. too much gas into motor without it starting will cause flooding, possibly fouled spark plugs. even tho the plugs may look good, gas will soak into the ceramic part of tip, causing plugs to foul and die.
