Engine Cutting Out with Beep - Any Ideas?

I have a problem which has just started.

Went out yesterday and cruising at 2500 rpm, every 20 seconds or so the warning beep (the one you get when you power up the ignition) sounds and the engine will cut out for the length of the beep. (1 sec). The engine then carries on running.

This happened all day yesterday whenever cruising.
There were no problems in the harbour or manoeuvring.
Just when under power.

Oil pressure, engine temp and all other vitals are normal when this happens.

The boat has performed flawlessly for 2 years.
The only thing I did before going out was to top up the engine oil.

Any ideas friends?

It's a Mercruiser 4.3 MPI (2006)
Alpha one drive.

Just to clarify, the beep is short and it's synced with the engine cutting for a split second then power is restored.

Beep because of the engine cutting or cutting out because of the beep??

Just to clarify, the beep is short and it's synced with the engine cutting for a split second then power is restored.

Beep because of the engine cutting or cutting out because of the beep??

You need to get a scan tool or the diagnostic software connected up... Without seeing what fault codes are being set, we can only guess. Sounds like Engine Guardian has kicked in, so there will be a fault code set in the ECM... How did the battery voltage gauge look?

This really has gone from bad to worse.

My boat has been with the workshop now for almost a month.
They replaced the water pressure sensor and this showed up a fault code.
Problem persisted.

They said they needed to replace the fuel pump and I got a call from them late one night to say there was a problem.
The fuel pump they fitted leaked fuel into the bilge and ignited.
Burnt the hell out of loads of cables, pipes and the sound deadening material.
They got the fire out pretty quickly and I went to see my baby the day after.
I could have cried.

They have now taken the engine out and cleaned up the fire damage. Gel Coated the fibreglass and asked me to pop down to inspect it before putting the engine back.

Luckily, the body of the boat looks OK.

Hopefully they'll fix the damn thing cutting out too.

I've been off the last 2 weeks as I had friends over from the UK for the Abu Dhabi F1 and intended to use the boat to the max.

pissed.

Wow, that's terrible. When it's done I'd get them run it for you and try to get something on paper from them acknowledging what happened and taking responsibility in case of future issues.
Hopefully they have also corrected the original problem.
