My '80 omc 140 hp will run fine when in nuetral even when applying throttle. But once engage it into gear it wants to cut out and die. To avoid this I have to "feather" the throttle. Any ideas?
Yes I have replaced fuel filter. I did rebuild the carb last season and it was pretty bad. Then it would not even idle since rebuild it will idle but this issue has been going on ever since I bought the boat last year. Maybe time for a replacement carb?
You do realize, that some carbs are so corroded in the passages from water, that no amount of rebuilding or cleaning will help. Those have to be replaced.
