Engine cylinder numbering

2004 Volvo Penta 4.3 GXI-E

So I replaced the plugs wires, coil and cap, and I managed to get the timing messed up. Can someone tell me the cylinder numbering layout from the front of the engine? I either got spark plug wires to the wrong plugs, or more than likely, my helpful son moved the distributor around and I'm way out of timing and need to start from cylinder 1 TDC..

left bank is cylinders 1, 3, 5
right bank is cylinders 2, 4, 6

firing order 1, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2

another way to look at it, look down from the top of the motor, one cylinder head is about 1" forward of the other. this is cylinder #1

Thanks Scott, I did find a graphic similar to this one, but what is throwing me off is the diagram of the distributor.. I am pretty sure the numbers molded into the distributor cap on my engine is a different layout that the one shown in this graphic... I will double check tonight. Thanks for the info.

You either have a crab cap or a conventional cap. Both graphics on the web
