Thanks to the helpful members on this forum I finally rewired my 88 3.0 that which has DDIS. Someone had cut off all the copper wire before I got the boat. So I don't know much about the engine before that. The motor started right up and runs smooth. It idles well. The problem is , if you give it gas quickly the engine dies. But if you give it gas slowly the engine accelerates great. Before I start looking into the carb , just wanted to be sure this is not the DDIS. If it is not, what are the possibilities?

most likely its the accelerator pump or the pump circuit is clogged in the carb.

with the motor off, open the choke, look down the carb and have someone give it full throttle. you should see a nice spray of fuel

When I look down the carb and open the thottest I do no see a spray. I do how ever see a drip

Ayuh,... Get a Carb Kit, 'n make sure the acc. pump is included, then rebuild the carb,...
