Engine Ford 302 (5.0) Cobra (502BPRMED)
The only time I can keep the engine running is when I shift really fast. I'm still testing it on the muffs. The arm that moves to activate the limit switch does move enough to hit the switch when going into gear but does not when coming out of gear. I'm thinking that is backwards from the way it should be. I can get it into forward easier than reverse with out killing the engine. I have recently set the shift arm in the outdrive to the proper height just under 7.5" if memory serves. The shift cable moved freely and I adjusted the linkage per the manual. It is still coming out of gear even though the esa does not appear to be activating. I assume the esa is killing it going into gear. Should I repeat the process of adjusting the linkage or look somewhere else?
