Engine Dogs Out

I have a Mercruiser V8 350 CID engine in my 21ft Maxum boat. Two or three times a summer the engine will dog out. It always happens at high throttle. It is more than just a "miss". The engine never dies but cuts out to an idle. I simply pull up on the throttle and push down again and I'm on my way. This usually happens after we have run the boat for an extended period of time. It seems to me that when this happens the engine is lacking fuel or perhaps water in the fuel. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Have you checked/replaced your water separating fuel filter?.....​

give her a tune up. ya ain't hearin a clinkin noise are ya? when i had my boat she was runnin crappy & wouldn't plane off. i heard this clinkin noise so i figgered the engine was shot. sold it to a guy for a case a coors. come ta find out the guy that bought her dug out a few hundred punds of empty coors bottled from under the seats. he took them emptys in for the deposit & filled her up with a tank a new gas. i seen 'em the other day. says he still runnin her. i ain't yet ta live that one down.

Thanks for the advice. Here is what I have done. I put new plugs, rotor, cap, Wires, and even a new high performance Coil. I also changed the fuel filter (I change it every spring).

Clogged vent line or fuel pick up would be my guess......
Have you checked the filter screen at the carb?.....​
