I thought I knew. The previous owner of my 21' bayliner 1983, said the engine is a chevy 305. The outdrive is obviously a Penta 280. None of these numbers correspond to anything on volvo's part site. The tilt thrust rod (or vice rod) is bent and needs replacing. The motor appears to be too weak to lift the outdrive as well. I need new or used parts and can't even find the model numbers for the engine/outdrive to get the part numbers I need! Help!

Re: engine? drive?

If it is in fact a 305, the era 305 was model AQ225D.

The lift mechanisms are not cheap. look on ebay for a used one.

welcome, btw.:)

Re: engine? drive?

Your drive could be any one of the 280-275-270
Sounds like it had the duo-prop added after purchase.
The Bayliners came with the cheapest outfit they could put on.'
Try Bayliner on line.
Give them the hull ID # and they can tell you just exactly what's on there???
