Engine driven air conditioner.

It seems it would be fairly easy and relatively cheap to install an engine mounted air conditioning system onto a boat with a Chevy small block and enough room. Would there be any safety issues in taking an automotive R124A system and modifying it to fit a boat. I know I would have to replace the air cooled condenser with a heat exchanger.... or just run sea water over the condenser.

Well I could be wrong on this, but I don't think the Coast Guard is going to like that idea unless its already an approved system. Standard automotive AC systems use an electromagnetic clutch to engage/disengage the compressor. If this isn't sealed to CG specs (and approved) and it sparks, it could go BOOM.
