Hello... Had a bit of a problem with my Volvo Penta 3.0 2008 yesterday.
It was running normally on land. I filled it up with gas and launched it into the sea. I gave it a bit of throttle and cranked the engine, but it wouldn't start. I kept trying and still nothing. I then noticed fuel leaking from near the carburetor throttle (Holley 2300). I then restricted the fuel line and it started. Once I let go of the fuel line it kept running roughly, then ran normally but was smoking a lot. This kept up for 45 minutes or so, there was also black residue in the water. Oil level was half an inch higher than when I had last checked it on land, looked thinner and smelt of petrol. I then drove it for a 4 minutes or so at 2k rpm, then 5 or 6 minutes at 3k. Smoke reduced by a lot. haven't checked anything since. What should I do next? What do you think caused it? Thank you
