Hey all,

my motor is very very slow to pick up speed. after about a minute or more of wide open throttle my boat is semi close to planning out. The boat used to get up and go real well but now after i rebuilt the motor im having problems. Lastnight i was coming back to the dock after duck hunting and I could not get the motor started. Waited 5 mins and it finally started. then it would only run about a 1/4 speed on the way back even tho I had the throttle wide open. Seems to be flooding. Can anyone help. 1975 johnson 25 hp. thanks

Hi gransee. Use this link to dial in your carb. If that doesn't work, then it may be time to clean/rebuild the carb. It's not hard and you can get a rebuild kit right here at ibaots for about $20. If it still runs poorly after the carb is cleaned and reset, then you may have an ignition issue. Try the steps in the link and let us know what happens.

when rebuilding the carb make sure to take a tiny wire a push it through all the holes in the carb, some on here say the wire in a bread tie works well
