engine goes into reverse but not forward

Hi

I launched my boat on the first fine day in quite some time for some fishing and diving, it was all going well, the engine was purring, I reversed out from the rocks, then went to put the throttle into forward and I get revs but the engines not going into gear.

So I have a suzuki df55 (could be dt55 I'll check). Looking at the engine the cable that goes to the lower part of the engine (throttle) functions and goes forward and back. The cable up higher (the gear shifter?) only goes reverse when I push the throttle in reverse, it doesn't go forward when i shift the throttle forward. Could this be a broken pin in the side mount remote control or something in the engine? Any ideas?

Well, I feel like an idiot but I got it fixed. Turned out I thought I'd turned the friction screw at the front of the remote control enough, well I hadn't, looks like some cheeky character on the street must have loosened it off.
