I think my motor is mounted in the wrong position. After reading a few threads on engine height i think that the ventilation/cavitation plate should be above the water when the boat is on plane.Mine is below the water line. The pictures taken are at 32mph 4000rpm.What do you think

Re: engine height

Yes it could be too low and it won't hurt to raise the motor and see what the response is.There is no specific demension for height.(antivent plate even with the bottom of the boat is considered a starting point)
Raise the motor to just before venting becomes a problem.Be sure it pumps water.Going to a stainless or cupped prop can improve the max height performance.A 1 inch increase in height could net 2mph or more.

Re: engine height

The prop is a stainless steel mirage plus 15 1/2 X 17p.The boat right now performs well.Good holeshot and no blowout even at high speed tight turns.

Re: engine height

You should be able to lift motor if you have no ventilation at high speed in sharp turns.

If you have no ventilation at all then your not close enough to the edge of max height. What is your max rpm and speed now?If your willing to deal with a little occasional venting you could gain signifigant speed and a little improved
economy.
