Ibought a 18' Ranger with a johnson 150. When adjusting the trim up the boat begins to hop before I even get to the first mark on the trim guage. there is no jack plate and it has 4 height adjustment hloes on the mount and it looks like the motor used to be in the second from the bottom hole and someone has moved it up to the third hole for some reason.
will moving it back down help my problem.

Re: engine height

Hi, BB.

It would probably help, but...

The AV plate (often called the cavitation plate) should be even with or up to 1.5" above the bottom of the boat. It should also be parallel with the bottom at zero trim.

Check that out and let us know what results you get.

Good luck. :)

Re: engine height

quick question. are you calling the bottom of the boat at the rear because mine is set 3/4" from this but under bottom is about a4"recess and then about 1 1/2 foot wide by 3" drop to true bottom should this plate be set to this.
