Hello all,

I have a 91 OMC 4.3 cobra that has a bit of a stutter/ hesitistion when you try to shift it into reverse. Also now I can't seem to start it with the button pushed in and the control moved slightly forward to rev it up as soon as it fires. you have to pull back to straight up to start. It had a new shifter cable replaced within the last few years too.

What do you guys think it could be? out of adjustment? do you just turn the trunnion either way to adjust it?

thanks

Sounds like the cables bad OR the shift bellcrank is corroded and making shifting hard.
Pull the drive and inspect the bellcrank.
Water gets in there and sand and crud builds up and the bellcrank binds.
